Disgraced former Republican Majority Leader Tom DeLay announced today that not only will he impress Americans across the political spectrum with the wiggle of his hips on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, he has already begun maneuvers off the dance floor that will ensure his eventual win.
In back room meetings at Margaritaville with new DWTS judge Paula Abdul, Tom DeLay laid out a plan exactly like his gerrymandering in Texas: Vote to change the rules abruptly, which includes a decree eliminating all the other contestants. Insiders say DeLay was able to win the influence of Paula Abdul through his impressive exhibition of the moves from the dance routine in Abdul’s 1988 music video for “Straight Up.”
Based on DeLay’s history of money laundering, questions surfaced immediately surrounding corporate money being funneled into ABC through an arcane expenditure process known as “advertising.”

"No Pubic Option"?
With today’s news that the White House appears ready to abandon the public health insurance option, and half of Americans with it, we reach a troubling turning point. We hoped our new administration would go to the mat on this, just yesterday stressing its importance to Netroots Nation. As valorous as it was to foray into the thick of lobbyists and corporate greed, it was too easy for distractions to be created among xenophobic backlashers. The debate was lost in shrill hysteria by ginned-up white people who would benefit the most from public health care.
The woman in the wheelchair in the photo to the right—how are you getting your bills paid now? All you other angry people—did you even bother to consider how your friend in the wheelchair pays for her health care? Lady who is against the “Pubic Option” (as well as apparently proof-reading)—can you even define “socialism”?
I used to hold uninformed dolts blameless in this war of misinformation, because they are so brazenly misinformed by the sobbing hysterics of Glenn Beck and shameless corporate shillery of Dick Armey. But I have come to accept that there is an egregious amount of willfully accepted hogwash as an outlet for other feelings — like resentment at losing an election, or fear of a black president. To this pathetic bunch of pitchfork wielding poseurs, I share with you this well-articulated berating that will be your legacy.

If I could tell President Obama just one thing, this would be it: You must address, investigate, and prosecute for the subversion of justice carried out by Karl Rove throughout the U.S. Justice Department. Not only are civil servants still suffering the destruction of their careers by relentless partisan hunting, there are still many Rove loyalists who serve as U.S. Attorneys. This is the greatest vulnerability I can perceive to a popular president focused on winning the debate, and placing blind faith in the machinations of our still-tainted legal system.

In the beautiful coastal city of Recife, Brazil – a world capital for sex tourism – a couple of determined women decided they would try to break the cycle of domestic violence and get kids off the streets. Hummingbird goes onto the streets and sees the harsh reality these kids face and shows how these programs help break the cycle, giving youth a chance.
Check out this wonderful documentary Hummingbird by Holly Mosher.
