I guess the Denver Police lost their patience with the impressive showing by Code Pink out here.  Maybe the cop in this video actually has a crush on one of the Pink Ladies, and shoving her to the ground is his middle-school way of showing that.  Same with calling her “Bitch.”

length, unfiltered, he would be a viable candidate.

But with an alarmingly controlling media, that will never happen. So
this pathetic, deflated, collapsing symbol of democracy is an apt one.

Radiohead Unplugged?

At the inaugural Outside Lands Music Fest in SF right now, rock gods Radiohead just had their audio completely cut out to stunned silence.  I thought it was my mind, until I heard the rise of disapproving boos.  After an eternal 10 seconds, the music came back.

Then it happened AGAIN.  More stunned silence.  Then eventually music came back on, with Thom Yorke acknowledging he didn’t know what was going on.

It’s like seeing a hospital run out of band-aids or something.

Otherwise, as their shows typically are, it was amazing.

Stephanie Tubbs Jones, R.I.P.

I was so saddened to learn of U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones untimely passing yesterday at 58.  She was a strong fighter and brave woman.  And she was funny.  Her sudden death is a loss to us all.

In this clip from FREE FOR ALL!, we paid tribute to Tubbs Jones’s interminable spirit for being the only one to put Ken Blackwell on the spot for his horrible mishandling of the 2004 Election in Ohio.  A statuesque woman with effusive expressions and quick wit, she called Blackwell out on the carpet, then told him to haul butt out for wasting her time.

I had actually been looking forward to sending a copy of the film to her office just the other day.  I am saddened I will not be able to share the impact she made on me in return.
